Ond aros yn y lle rhwng y ddau – Aled Jones Williams

I am large, I contain multitudes – Walt Whitman

CROESO – diolch yn fawr am alw draw. WELCOME to my small corner in cyber-space. Home is Wales – Cymru ydi adra – and this site is where I blog and have posted up some information about my writing and songs/music with Gorwel Owen, my husband. Please also see the ‘conversations’ between myself and other writers/artists, along with the links to other projects I am involved in. I taught creative writing and arts/humanities disciplines for the Open University for twenty-four years, until retiring in September 2022. Now, I run quarterly themed writing days under the name Eye of the Storm. These are on Zoom, linked to each season. My aim with these is to facilitate and share the exploration of writing and reading as an act of generative empowerment and self/world enquiry, seeking to foster curiosity about being here, as inter-relating subjects.

Fiona Owen’s next collection, Anima/l, will be published this autumn 2024 on Cinnamon Press with cover image by Ann Johnson, ‘Hare, Collage’.

‘Fiona Owen is a poet in whom a sharp and original eye for detail is matched by a broad and profound sense of humanity, and the natural world of which we are a part. … This is exemplified by the brilliant sequence that gives the collection its name, inspired by the photographs of Flóra Borsi, unlocking the very meaning of what it is – or should be – to be human.’

This is the third poem in the title sequence, ‘Anima/l’, a series of ekphrastic poems written in response to some photographs by Hungarian art-photographer Flóra Borsi from her Animeyed collection.
